I love everything about this.

I went to public school through sixth grade. I attended Christian school and Christian College. My wife and I educated three of our four kids at home.

I spent decades leading worship and teaching and churches. I’ve spent the last 15 years playing music and bars and clubs and cultivating friendships with people I would’ve tried to avoid in my fundamentalist days.

I have found more honesty and love out in the world than I have in any church I’ve ever attended or served in. I think it’s because I’m connected with people at the level of values rather than beliefs. When we share the same values, we move along in the same direction without having to scribe to the same narrative. And it’s in that context that followers of Jesus have the opportunity to actually live out the values of love and humility and mercy and generosity and forgiveness and making peace even with those who initially consider this enemies.

Bravo! Your kids will be well rounded and aware of the world that actually exists And I believe you are centering them in values that will be a strong foundation for the rest of their lives.
