Steven Spielberg's Peter Pan story isn't quite the debacle critics declared it, nor the masterpiece the children who grew up with it claim. It's a messy and manipulative film that sometimes -- particularly whenever Dustin Hoffman is on screen -- finds its happy thoughts and flies.
