I tell this story in the interview, but a little over a year ago, actress Anne Miranda came to our church to talk about her new show, Creative Icons, a docuseries she’s produced with filmmaker Scott Magie. She showed the first episode and engaged us in a conversation about Christianity and the arts that was so good that I went home and told my wife it was the type of discussion I’d been wanting churches to have for years.
The first three episodes of Creative Icons — which explores faith and creativity alongside interviews with people like jazz singer Ruth Naomi Floyd, film critic Josh Larsen, hip hop artist Sho Baraka and others — recently premiered in Grand Ledge, Michigan. A new devotional, Unveil and Unleash Your Creative Purpose is available on Amazon, and it’s a six-week study that walks groups through these episodes and talks about being “created to create.”
Anne and Scott recently sat to talk with me and I loved this conversation. We hit on topics that have been dear to my heart for most of my life, and I love the work they’re doing. I highly recommend this series and this study, and I can’t wait to see what they do next! I hope you enjoy this conversation!
