I wrote about this a bit last year, but 1996 was huge for me. It was the first summer I was able to see R-rated movies on my own, and it was also the summer of Twister, Mission: Impossible, Independence Day, The Rock, The Nutty Professor, Eraser, A Time to Kill, and Cable Guy. Some of those don't hold up as an adult, but as a 17-year-old who was just starting to really refine his movie love, it was huge.

I was in college then, and those years were definitely the peak of my movie-going in theatres. I saw practically everything that came out, good or bad. I also worked in a movie theatre as a summer job all through 1995 and 1996, so I got paid to watch movies alone at midnight after splicing all the reels together in the booth. Those were fun times.
