Hey all. I’m going to start a new, semi-regular feature called Saturday Coffee for paid subscribers. I’ve wanted to write more about my thoughts on movie news and trailers, as well as maybe put down some personal musings, reading updates, etc. Trying to give everything its own email would likely get cumbersome – and clog your inboxes – so a digest for you to have as you start your weekend seems like a good option (depending on time, these may sometimes be Sunday coffees). Occasionally, I’ll remove the paywall on these, but more than not, these will be for paid patrons. Like I said, I’ll always have free content, but this does take a considerable amount of time each week, so any support is greatly appreciated and I’ll try to reward that. 

I didn’t intend this, but this week’s Saturday Coffee is pretty Saturday Night Live-centric, with a look at Jason Reitman’s latest movie and some thoughts on an SNL-related podcast.

Jason Reitman’s ‘Saturday Night’

This week, the big marketing push for Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night began, with a massive story and photo dump in Vanity Fair and the reveal of the first trailer. The film chronicles the 90 minutes leading up to the airing of the first episode of Saturday Night Live on Oct. 11, 1975, and the trailer presents a ticking-clock of a movie.
